What Happened and How!!!!

On a hot Saturday morning in May 2016, a group of former Worth County High School alumni gathered together in a small conference room in the Sylvester Georgia Fire department. Their mission: to bring all alumni together for a weekend event like the city has never seen. The organizer behind this huge undertaking is Jarvis Jefferson, an alumnus from the class of 1999. Jarvis along with six additional alumni, make up the executive committee, the driving force behind the reunion. The meeting itself is like a reunion. People who have not seen each other for years, hug like old friends.

Scheduled for Friday, September 30th and Saturday, October 1st, the weekend promises to be fun filled. A community wide pep rally is scheduled for Friday, September 30th at 6 p.m. at the practice field by the Worth County Stadium. Saturday’s events start at 8 a.m. with an Old School vs New School basketball game at the Worth County High School Gym. Festivities continue at Jeffords Park at 11 a.m. with tailgating and a BBQ cook off competition. At noon all of the classes will gather together for a memorial to remember the “Fallen Rams”: those fellow class members who have passed on.

But this weekend isn’t just about seeing friends. It’s also about giving back. Each class is asked to donate $250 towards the Alumni Scholarship Fund. The Scholarship Committee will award scholarships to some well deserving seniors that plan on pursuing higher education. With the weekend fast approaching and excitement building, the Rams Alumni Reunion Weekend promises to be an entertaining and unforgettable affair.

Since 2016, the Worth County Rams Alumni Reunion Inc. has accomplished several milestones and evolved into more than just a weekend gathering. Some of the accomplishments and milestones include obtaining and maintaining a 501c3 status and operating as a nonprofit organization, awarding scholarships to graduating Worth County High School seniors every year, providing disaster relief whenever possible, and many more community based assistance.
